relax & unwind

With this term being a particularly stressful term with a lot of studying coming up (or so I'd like to lead myself to believe), I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share some of my ways to relax and unwind amidst waves of stress and being buried under piles of books.

First things first, make yourself a steamy cup of tea - tea is literally like my safe place; it's like a hug in a cup.

Okay now that you've successfully made tea to your taste - some like it milky, some like it not quite black with two drops of milk - you can move onto my next step.

This next step for me involves either a) switching on the TV or b) in most cases my laptop and surfing the interwebbles.

My go-to interweb sites are firstly YouTube and catching up on all my subscriptions - there's generally a dailygrace or two to watch and a couple of vlogs there too along with the normal youtuber videos.

Secondly i open up facebook but if I'm not in the mood to be annoyed by the people I kinda met this one time. then i open up pintrest and play house and fashionista by repinning all these beautiful looking photos. But I tend not to open weheartit, it's hopelessly too soppy, self-piteous and teenage dream (most of the time anyway) for my liking.

Once I'm done catching up on these two important sites in between the sips of tea i move onto series. Series is another way to get lost for a couple hours - some prefer books, which I don't mind but series is my calling.

Thankfully it's October which means a lot of the series that I watch are premiering this month - just in time to help me procrastinate studying for exams (jokes, mom).

What are your favourite ways to relax and de-stress? Have a great week! xo

The Sick Diaries.

I've been sick for the passed two days. How joyous, I know. There are some perks to staying at home and missing school.

  1. You miss school (i.e. I get to wake up a tad later)
  2. You can watch TV.
  3. You can watch series and movies on your laptop.
  4. Catch up on some blog reading.
Le not so perks of being a sick flower (AKA the reality of being sick at home):
  1. You have to catch up all the school work you missed.
  2. Daytime television sucks.
  3. You quickly realise you've watched most episodes of your series or that most series don't premiere until next week.
  4. Your eyes hurt (from being sick and tired) so you can't spend that much time on your laptop anyway.
Yesterday I spent a good part of the day sleeping and changing between warm and cool clothes because your body can't decide if it's feeling hot or cold. FUN. I also spent a lot of time sneezing (seriously, like most of last night I couldn't stop) so in light of that I found some funny sneezing-related pics on pintrest

Yes I looked like the maniac in the second pic. Imagine doing that repeatedly for like a good five seconds.
Too cute I know.
Hopefully I'll be well enough to return to school on Monday, if not it will be another day of sneezing, itchiness and lacklustre daytime television. Cry me a river, I know. Hope you have a superb weekend if you're sick as well - just snuggle up with a pot of tea/coffee/hot choccie and watch all those movies that you keep telling yourself "you have to see" (maybe even The Perks of Being a Wallflower, lolsies) at least that's what I'm going to do. Stay stylish!

Happy Weekend!

With shops starting to put Christmas decorations up already and everyone gearing up for the festive season I thought this picture related to it all. The lights, fairy lights, christmas lights? See the connection? Me neither, I literally sucked that from my thumb as the saying goes, it's just a really cool photo of Ryan Gosling. Just one of many from my Pintrest adventures, aah that does sound really lame. Anyway, I'm so glad it's the weekend - this week consisted of too many exams and I'm nowhere near done. Funnn..
I think I'm going to go hibernate for the rest of the afternoon or just be generally lazy and reject all my books. Hope you all have a fun weekend and are not putting up your Christmas decorations up before November is even over. Don't stare at the picture for too long now, stay stylish!

Faire une pause.

Lately my addiction to Pintrest has grown, maybe because it's just so much more appealing than studying at the moment regardless I've found that I'm loving all the fashion photos that crop up as well as some of the amazing photography images. Most of the images below are from my "fashion" board and includes runway looks which is mainly pretty to look at, not so much to wear, and items which I want to own. I also love naming my boards because it gives me a chance to use my french (I'll save my love for French for another day, another post). Somehow everything just sounds better when you say it french, faire une pause just has a better ring to it than 'taking a break' (with the proper pronunciation and frenchy accent of course).

My weekend wasn't only pinning pretty pictures onto my virtual boards, there was an ample amount of studying done too although last night my neighbours were uncannily loud and proved they didn't want me to study either, surely that was the reason behind them having a live band playing those golden oldies? They're just so thoughtful.

This week will probably seeing me doing less blogging :'( and more hitting the books (literally and figuratively). Although I am looking forward to the fact that the next two days are free days! (yaay) Have a great week, as always stay stylish!

Printed Jeans.

Yesterday I walked in to a renovated Foschini at Gateway and was amazed at how the store's look mirrored oversea's stores such as Top Shop, Primark and even local store Forever New. Browsing through the clothes, I fell in love with printed jeans. I've been told that I can pull them off so I'm waiting to get a pair and wear them with my wedge heels and a plain tee. I'm getting more excited to wear these as I type this, someone buy me a pair?
