Summery cheer.

Wow that is a cheesy title but I laaaike it a lot. Anyway; even though the weather doesn't seem to be on board, summer is on it's way/is here. So to get in the mood for this festive season (pun not intended), I thought to change my laptop wallpaper to a more summer-appropriate one. Just for fun.

I know it's idyllic. Somebody just needs to tell the sun not to be bullied by the rain and clouds then it will all be okay. Plan? Yes it is.

Stay stylish!

SUITS.

I have new obsession addiction; it's literally my new favourite TV show ever. Seriously. It's Suits. Just a little background for those of you living under a rock and have not heard of this dashing show (yes I just called a show dashing). It's all about lawyers that work in Manhattan, NYC - specifically the firm Pearson & Hardman. The firm has partners and associates. The main characters are Harvey Spector (the I'm-too-cool-for-anyone lawyer/senior partner) and Mike Ross (just know he's a genius and he doesn't have a law degree, oh and he's an associate at P&H).

Powerful duo.
Harvey Spector.
Mike Ross.
Harvey is Mike's boss. There's also Donna (Harvey's secretary). Then there's Jessica (everyone's boss). Let's not forget the biggest pain in the ass partner Louis Litt; he is literally the most annoying person ever (think of the most annoying person you know, multiply that by 1000000 and you have Louis).

That's Suits in an ultra-condensed version; I haven't touched on the drama, witt, side-banter and general ass-kicking (I couldn't think of any other word) that happens in the show and of course there is the usual romance and heartache. Anyhooo, an added bonus is the good-looking actors in the show (mainly Harvey and Mike). I'm Team Mike by the way. Not that there are teams, like in Twilight (dear Lord no). Basically I think Mike is hotter. Unequivocally.

I'm not entirely sure what moment this is capturing but this is Harvey, Rachel, Donna.
The cast. If that wasn't evident.
So that's me fangirling showing you my favourite TV show. This show basically makes me want to become a lawyer and move to New York and practise law. But it's unlikely I'm going to be a lawyer - I wouldn't be able to deal with court. Anyway that's a discussion for another blog post. I'm just sad that I've watched all the episodes there is to watch (damn my impatience) and I have to wait till JANUARY 17 for the new episode. That's in like...umm.. a lot of days. Tear, sniff.

Friday 23 November 2012

Yeaah it's friday.

This weekend shall probably see me sleeping late guilt-free because I don't have to wake up early to study. Woooohoooo. I know you're excited too. Oh and maybe I'll go out into the real-world. Maybe. I might possibly be too lazy to change into anything suitable because I have gotten used to wearing tracksuit pants (sweatpants for you Americans). That could be a problem. Oh well, that's a non-issue en ce moment. Hope you all have a smashing weekend and if you're studying not to fear exams shall soon be over. If not, have fun with whatever you're doing and stay stylish!

FREE.

Okay so this morning after my last exam, I was all like:
and

Oh and
(I know it's High School Musical, I'm more shocked that I actually sat and looked for these.)

But know after relishing in my freedom, I'm like

I can't believe it either, don't get me wrong I don't want the exam period back nor do I want to study. Ain't nobody got time for that. But I'm honestly bored or better yet lazy. I'm just sitting here wallowing in my laziness and just not moving. Nope just lying on my bed and staring at my laptop.

And I've watched all my series for the week. Okay jokes no, I haven't watched Hart of Dixie, Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 and Big Bang Theory isn't out yet. But wait there's always this wonderful site and this one or this. Okay all hope is not lost, the internet is truly a wonderful place and whoever told you otherwise LIED.

Oh and I got my school photos today. I had to get them done independently because I was away on exchange when they did them at school; the main reason I wanted them done was so that my school bus didn't have one slot empty. School bus you ask?
Le school bus, please excuse the horrible quality
Anyway, the point of this ramble. They photoshopped me into my class photo!! I was positively freaked out. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their creativity and enthusiasm and it is kinda cool but seriously? I couldn't get over that. I mean I accept the fact that I wasn't here, I'm totally fine with not being in my class photo. Really. All I wanted was to fill the empty spot.

So that is the story, this was probably one of the more random blog posts I've done to date. I've spoken about literally anything that popped into my head. Don't worry the upcoming ones will have a bit more structure and purpose. I think. Eh whatever, YOLO. Yes that was a very inappropriate use of YOLO and unwarranted but it's my blog so I can do as I pleaaase (that includes posting High School Musical GIFs). Stay stylish!

Quote du Jour.

"Oh me? I'm not 80% water. I'm 80% coffee and a little bit of sass." - Zooey Deschanel

I came across this quote on note to self and found it so sassy (in want of a better word) and couldn't resist not sharing. Happy hump day!

Diwali: Festival of Lights.

Every year, there is the annual FNB Durban Diwali Festival held the weekend before Diwali and has many food, clothing and entertainment stalls. There is also a grand fireworks display which gets bigger every year. I couldn't resist including what I wore on the saturday night to the festival - I bought the blue skirt in India and after my mom reviving it, I can't get enough of it. I paired it with a plain tank top and a belt. I tried to keep it traditional by wearing a dot although you can't see it in this photo. Oh wells, it's there don't worry.

Diwali is the Hindu celebration of light over darkness, good over evil; the celebration of the return of Rama & Sita from exile. It's probably one of the most important events on the Hindu calendar and we celebrated it last Tuesday. It's a colourful & auspicious time where you exchange sweetmeats with friends and family and light your home with diyas to welcome the goddess Laxmi into your home (just two of the things we do on Diwali)

Here is the delish chocolate square.

My sister and I were having a bit of a Harry Potter moment.
As you can see, there was a lot of food involved and don't worry I managed to successfully eat mostly sweet things all day; my favourite at the mo is my mom's chocolate squares. They are absolutely amaze.   We also wear new clothes on Diwali although I didn't get a chance to take a photo of that. You'll just have to take my word for it when I say it was lovelaay. ;) As always, stay stylish!

Quote du Jour

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain."

Happy Place.

Jab We Met
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
Dostana
Vivah
I watched Milenge Milenge yesterday (well like the last half hour) and realised how much I love Indian movies. I literally find myself smiling afterwards because most of the time it has a happy ending and 9 times out of 10 it's a love story. Whether the main story line is about a romance or it's a side-story - it's there.. err'time. Along with these storylines; there are the catchiest songs (performed in streets, cars, on rooftops, middle of class; whatever tickles their fancy) which are always included in the movies. Despite the somewhat overdramatised scenes at times, I just love them and can't get enough of them. Whatever Bollywood is doing, they're doing it right and they've been doing it for years.

This quote probably sums up why Bollywood movies make you so happy whilst watching.
"The suspension of disbelief in India is prompt and generous, beginning before the audience enters the theater itself. Disbelief is easy to suspend in a land where belief is so rampant and vigorous. And not just in India; audiences in the Middle East, Russia and Central Asia are also pre-cynical. They still believe in motherhood, patriotism, and true love; Hollywood and the West have moved on." - Suketu Mehta in "Maximum City"

Aaand one of my favourites that I thought I'd share. Stay stylish!

Happy Weekend!

With shops starting to put Christmas decorations up already and everyone gearing up for the festive season I thought this picture related to it all. The lights, fairy lights, christmas lights? See the connection? Me neither, I literally sucked that from my thumb as the saying goes, it's just a really cool photo of Ryan Gosling. Just one of many from my Pintrest adventures, aah that does sound really lame. Anyway, I'm so glad it's the weekend - this week consisted of too many exams and I'm nowhere near done. Funnn..
I think I'm going to go hibernate for the rest of the afternoon or just be generally lazy and reject all my books. Hope you all have a fun weekend and are not putting up your Christmas decorations up before November is even over. Don't stare at the picture for too long now, stay stylish!

Meet Carly Rose Sonenclar.

I literally get goosebumps every time I watch this clip, this girl is amazing! I haven't been following X-Factor so I don't know how she has done in the competition thus far. Just a side note, I love her black top although it is a bit too big on her. Either way, she puts on a spectacular show and in the words of Britney Spears she really is a "little diva." Stay stylish!

Faire une pause.

Lately my addiction to Pintrest has grown, maybe because it's just so much more appealing than studying at the moment regardless I've found that I'm loving all the fashion photos that crop up as well as some of the amazing photography images. Most of the images below are from my "fashion" board and includes runway looks which is mainly pretty to look at, not so much to wear, and items which I want to own. I also love naming my boards because it gives me a chance to use my french (I'll save my love for French for another day, another post). Somehow everything just sounds better when you say it french, faire une pause just has a better ring to it than 'taking a break' (with the proper pronunciation and frenchy accent of course).

My weekend wasn't only pinning pretty pictures onto my virtual boards, there was an ample amount of studying done too although last night my neighbours were uncannily loud and proved they didn't want me to study either, surely that was the reason behind them having a live band playing those golden oldies? They're just so thoughtful.

This week will probably seeing me doing less blogging :'( and more hitting the books (literally and figuratively). Although I am looking forward to the fact that the next two days are free days! (yaay) Have a great week, as always stay stylish!
