Guess who's back?

Don't worry I didn't forget about my little part of the internet. Hope you had a festive Christmas and New Year and as cliched as it may sound my resolution is to get more organised and better prepared with le blogging.

Despite the relaxing cruise it feels good to be back on dry land home albeit for a week till we go back to school. There are some mixed emotions about that imminent day. Anyway the Gossip Girl posts will resume soon and be prepared for various posts on these past holidays. Whoop whoop.

Oh and I'm not the only one who starts singing Eminem's Without Me in my head err'time I read the post title? Right?

Baking Time.

Today my sister baked biscuits so I decided to whip out the camera and photograph the process. I had fun. The recipe and ingredients are pretty simple and the recipe makes approximately 50 biscuits.

Ingredients:
  1. 1 cup self-raising flour
  2. 1 cup plain flour
  3. 250g butter (room temperature)
  4. 3/4 cup castor sugar
  5. 100g or 1 cup coconut
  6. 5ml vanilla essence
  7. Handful of coconut or rolled oats (or both)
Method:
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Cream the butter and sugar with a hand mixer.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter and sugar.

  • Add vanilla essence and you can add a handful of oats if you want.
  • Hand mix the mixture (mix the mixture lol) into a ball.
  • Break pieces of the mixture and roll them into balls and roll the balls in oats.
  • Place the balls on a baking tray about 2cm apart.

  • Repeat with coconut

  • Bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes until the biscuits are flattened and golden.
  • Let them cool and then eat and enjoy!

A little bit of Jo'burg.

These holidays I didn't even get around to doing anything on my "Bucket List" shock, horror, disgrace..I know. Oh wells, it was a short holiday anyway and there's always December. So what exactly did my 9 day break entail? Well nothing too exciting although I do have an enthralling tale of how I bought my leather jacket last Wednesday which I will save for another blog post. We arrived back in rainy Durban today after being up in Jo'burg for four days. Jo'burg was fun, the weather was trĂ©s beau which meant I had a chance to wear my summer dresses!! I love summer - the sun, the sandals, the sundresses.. just lovely. Our Jo'burg trip consisted of Sandton City, Monte Casino, visiting family and entertaining my three and six year old cousins. I watched a lot of Baby Looney tunes and Dora the Explorer (I even caught myself singing the Dora theme song...doo doo Dora!)  Sandton City, as always, was fab. I have a new found-love in the store Cotton On but sadly there is no store in Durban and I didn't even buy anything this time round! I also took to Instagram, still getting the hang of it though - you can follow me @sohinii.

Back to school tomorrow, this term shall be hectic so I'm not too sure how frequent I shall be with blogging but I'm sure procrastination shall kick in soon enough so the blog shan't suffer - the quote du jours will at least be posted. As always, stay stylish!

Let's call it a "Bucket" list for now.

What started off as a list of things to do accomplish during the upcoming holidays turned into a to do list of things I want to accomplish - some short term, some by the end of the summer holidays and some just whenever. I haven't really set a definite date on when I want to accomplish all of this. I was inspired by the list created on Design Darling. I've already accomplished one thing which i have always wanted to do and that was start a blog. Yaaay for accomplishments. Anyway, some of these things are more tasks than goals. Nonetheless, I have decided to write them all down and as I think of more I shall be sure to add them despite the randomness of it. Here's what I got for now and I'll be sure to check back in and cross off the ones I have accomplished.

THE LIST:

  1. Learn to sew.
  2. Learn to cook.
  3. Find a holiday job and apply for it.
  4. Back up my Mac...soon.
  5. Send someone a letter via snail mail.
  6. Learn how to take photo's properly. (Youtube might be a good start)
  7. Commit to a sport at school for a term.
  8. Save my birthday money.
  9. Try something new - maybe a new food?
  10. Conquer my fear of heights.. (could be a long shot)
  11. Cut my hair short, shoulder length.
  12. Watch more classic movies (pre-2000s)
  13. Learn to surf.
  14. Learn more general knowledge and in the same vein partake in a quiz of some sorts.
  15. With regards to number 10: find the courage to do the big swing and go on the tallest water slide at uShaka.
  16. Go cage diving with the sharks and snorkeling at uShaka.
  17. Broaden my taste in music.
  18. Find a hobby/interest.
  19. Get organized.
  20. Zorbing
  21. Convince a friend or my sister to do some of the above with me.
The haircut I want (11) sans the surprised look.
So 21 seems like a nice number to leave this at for now. Hopefully some of these will motivate me to do more in the September and December holidays than just sit in front of the television watching re-runs of shows from eons ago although number 12 would require me to do so..

Euuurope.

So more photos from my late night editing stint. These ones are all coincidentally from our trip to London and our Scandinavian cruise last year.

The age old lie. "To die for one's country is sweet and proper."

Aren't we just so happy?

Who needs sleep?

So one would think that after doing this numerous times that I would learn my lesson maaais non. Anyway so after having a cup of coffee about two hours ago and not being able to sleep since I decided to edit some old photos. There's quite a few so I'll post them in installments and they're pretty random from holidays spanning from three years ago to this year.

Thinking face.

Erm So How Does This Work?

Please note that the name of this blog has since changed and the reasons and the new name is explained in this post

Okay so holiday boredom has got the better of me so I decided to start this blog to chronicle the daily occurrences of my life. Okay not really, posting things I find interesting from tv show quotes - prepare yourself for Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother amongst other comedy show quotes - to cute and funny photos (not necessarily fitting into the same category), interesting tweets.
Maybe I should explain the title? Pretty self explanatory, I have minor addictions to TV, twitter and tea, I also like the weheartit.com website but that didnt really fit in with whole t alliteration thing.

Cast photos for those of you haven't heard of How I Met Your Mother

..And The Big Bang Theory
