Adios Muchachos.

Don't you just love spur of the moment decisions? Well, I decided yesterday to go up to Johannesburg with my aunt today and will be up there for a week. I come back just in time to leave again next week for a cruise. So I don't have time to even do any scheduled posts to keep you entertained while I am away. Tear, sniff. However, I will be armed with lots of photos when I return and will be sure to upload some to share with you lovelies.

My organisational skills are seriously lacking so I don't have any Gossip Girl posts prepared so that will have to start again next year or if I have time next week I might post season 2. Otherwise everything shall be back to normal next year. Wow that sounds really weird to say.

I doubt I will have access to wifi on the cruise and won't have access to wifi in Johannesburg. More tears and sniffs. I won't be able to watch my favourite youtubers (not being able to watch dailygrace videos for 2 weeks, the world is surely going to end). Anyway if I don't post anything next week hope you all have a smashing Christmas and New Year and all that jazz. Stay stylish!

"Couture and canape are just another Saturday night."

As I wrote last week, I will be doing a weekly Gossip Girl fashion series that looks at the best fashion from each season and through these posts we can see how the style of the characters have evolved. FUN. Let's get acquainted.

Now that we've met everyone, let's get down to the fashion.

A very summery, etherial dress.
Blair Waldorf reinvented the prep school uniform during her time at Constance.

More preppy chic uniforms.

No Charlize Theron did not guest appear in this season but the dress Blair wore for her Cotillion looks so similar to the one Charlize wore to the 2006 Oscars. This reminds me of Fashion Polices's segment B*tch stole my look. Haha, who do you think wore it best?

Love the socks and shoes look.

This season didn't have a lot of high fashion as the series was just finding its feet. What I did love from here was how Serena & Blair reinvented their prep school uniform to make it look so chic and stylish. Another signature style which we see slowly emerging in season 1 is Blair's unique alicebands (headbands), we see more of them in season 2. I don't look much at the style of Chuck, Nate or Dan but I might just do a post dedicated to these dashing young men. Who knows? That's a secret I'll never tell, you know you love me xoxo. I couldn't resist not doing that, it was expected.

Hope you have a happy weekend and soak up the lovely rays of sunshine which have come out of hiding. As always stay stylish!

Colour me crazy

I've been wanting to blog about my chalkboard for a while and today I finally got some coloured chalk so my board won't look all that boring in the photos. A bit weird I know. Anyway I got the idea of a chalkboard after seeing my exchange student's chalkboard wall in her room. It's pretty simple to make your own chalkboard (as my mom did for me).

All you need is:
  • chalkboard paint (you can get this from a hardware store)
  • paintbrush
  • board to paint on (we used an old frame)
How to do it is pretty self explanatory, you paint the special chalkboard paint onto the board et voila you have a chalkboard.

Please just see how much coloured chalk I have.

Now that I have coloured chalk I can..
Draw a spaz looking flower
Draw a green heart
What picture is ever complete without a smiley face?
Draw an outline of my hand.
Release my inner-designer.

The possibilities are endless. Stay stylish!

Let's make a fairy bed.

My little cousins visited us yesterday and since it was such a lovely day they wanted to go outside and play on the swing set. What started off as playing on the swings soon escalated into collecting flowers from the garden to make a collage or better yet a "fairy bed". Naturally I had to capture this whole process so here are a few of the photos.

Unfortunately the wind was against us making this fairy bed and the flowers kept getting blown out of place so the fairies didn't have a comfy bed to sleep on last night. :( Apologies to any fairies that were caused some discomfort last night.

If you're on holiday, hope it's been eventful. Whatever you're up to, stay stylish!

Amateur Photography Hour.

These photos were a result of boredom and a need to do something else besides sitting on my laptop finding dailygrace videos which I have not yet watched or rewatching jacksgaps videos (but only the ones where Finn made an appearance). So I decided to get out and get some fresh air in le jardin and took my camera along. Thought I'd share them with you beautiful people.

Stay stylish!

Gossip Girl

Despite Gossip Girl not always having the most moral or even interesting storyline at times, one thing that remains consistent is the amazing fashion on the show. Since the show is coming to an end in two episodes time, I thought I would take a look at the best outfits worn by the characters through the seasons and share it with you! It's interesting to see how the style of the characters have evolved from their Constance-Billard St Judes days to now. There were many photos to look at (six seasons worth) but thankfully there is this wonderfully useful site which made the process less tedious. I'm excited to share this with you and the posts will most likely happen weekly comprising of the best fashion of each season.
Stay tuned chickens!

Baking Time.

Today my sister baked biscuits so I decided to whip out the camera and photograph the process. I had fun. The recipe and ingredients are pretty simple and the recipe makes approximately 50 biscuits.

Ingredients:
  1. 1 cup self-raising flour
  2. 1 cup plain flour
  3. 250g butter (room temperature)
  4. 3/4 cup castor sugar
  5. 100g or 1 cup coconut
  6. 5ml vanilla essence
  7. Handful of coconut or rolled oats (or both)
Method:
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Cream the butter and sugar with a hand mixer.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter and sugar.

  • Add vanilla essence and you can add a handful of oats if you want.
  • Hand mix the mixture (mix the mixture lol) into a ball.
  • Break pieces of the mixture and roll them into balls and roll the balls in oats.
  • Place the balls on a baking tray about 2cm apart.

  • Repeat with coconut

  • Bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes until the biscuits are flattened and golden.
  • Let them cool and then eat and enjoy!
