Olympics. Not.

So as you can gather this is not a post about the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics because I didn't watch it. Whilst these festivities were under way, I was at another show - Northwood Eastern Evening.  It was an equally amazing show, in it's own way. The show was all about Indian dancing and boy could some of those people dance. The people who participated were boys from Northwood and I think it was just girls from Danville and Northlands. It was really cool to see all the Hindi songs that I know being performed too. Also it was the one place where I wasn't the only one who knew all the words to some of the songs as half the audience were all singing along to their favourite songs and anticipating their favourites to be performed to. The hosts of the show became pretty dry and more cliched as the evening progressed but fortunately there was less of them and more of the dancing. They also had boys modeling traditional Indian outfits and girls modeling too. Northwood has a reputation for putting on spectacular Eastern Evenings, this was the first that I attended and it was truly spectacular. They had bursts of fire on the sides of the stage, main dancers entering from cranes, descending from the ceiling and a cast of talented dancers. It was really profesh and every year they get accomplished choreographers for the show and apparently they practice for six months leading up to the one night only show.

Sadly I only had my Blackberry camera phone with me so I didn't take any photos of the show, the quality would't have been that great anyway so you'll just have to rely on my description and your imagination to picture the show. Oh and if you were wondering why Gateway and Pavillion were so quiet last night it was because the majority of Durban's Indian teenage population were sitting at Northwood dressed in their formal or traditional attire watching the show.

Let's Fly.

When you spend too much time on WeHeartIt looking at pictures of exotic and faraway places, I tend to want to be able to teleport there. As we know you can't do magic out of Hogwarts otherwise I would have apparated there. So I'm left with just wanting to go on holiday to visit these places like New York, beach resorts like the Maldives or European places like Paris, Greece or Italy. I'm also just partly wanting to go for all the amazing shopping. Mission for after Matric: to visit these places. Anyone care to join?

MasterChef.

SPOILER ALERT! For those of you unfortunate souls who have not yet watched the finale of MasterChef SA and have had no access to social networking media I suggest you don't read any further.

I'll admit at first I wasn't that interested in the MasterChef series, I didn't understand the hype behind this homegrown series. After watching one episode (four or five episodes before the end) I was taken aback at the skill of the contestants and the quality of the TV show itself. I was expecting another Idols. I'm glad to say that it wasn't anything like the South African Idols. Naturally my favourite contestant was quickly chosen and yes Deena was the chosen one. It was probably due to a mixture of the two facts that he was one from KZN and secondly Indian, one had to be patriotic somehow. The more I watched the show, the more I was interested. I was amazed at the dishes that these amateur chefs could produce, especially some of the dishes produced in the pressure test.

Tonight was the all-important final, two contestants remained Deena and Sue-Ann. It was a very close final where both contestants both seemed to make equal blunders in the three different challenges, at least that's how the judges positioned us with their comments. I'm not going to go into an in-depth anaylsis of the show but it was nail-biting. So much so, that my mom actually reached a point where she left the room because she got so frustrated that Deena was not getting some of the things right and it seemed like Sue-Ann would win - highly amusing. But in the end there could only be one winner and that was Deena!! I think most of Durban erupted with joy once that was announced. This was some intense and better quality South African reality TV show.

Elle me dit.

I came across this cute French song called Elle me dit (She told me) by a singer named Mika. The music video reminds me of Carly Rae Jepson in a weird way yet it is not in the slightest similar to her Call Me Maybe video. The music video is quirky and the tune is pretty catchy and it's one of those bop-around-in-your-room type of songs. The lyrics are pretty meaningful so I included the video with both the French and English lyrics. I suggest you just read the English because both the French and English come up at the same time and it's hard to follow both. Enjoy.

Weddings.

For a while now I have had this burning desire to attend a wedding. I have been to numerous weddings before but it's been a long time since I attended one. Sadly no one in my family is getting married anytime soon. Although the actual wedding festivities are fun, I think I'm more wanting to go through the dressing up part - picking out punjabis (indian outfits), jewellery and doing my make-up and hair. I also enjoy getting mehndi (henna) done on my hands. Let's hope somebody in my family decides to tie the knot soon. Pictures found on weheartit and Pinterest.

Artsy.

For a while now I've been wanting to have the Instagram app on my phone but alas there is none for Blackberry phones. Two options to solve this problem: 1) Get an iPhone thus Instagram. 2) Download photo editing app which is similar. Sadly option 2 has to suffice for now. The app I downloaded (PixTrix) is actually rather effective and I have managed to edit my snapshots pretty easily. I took a photo of the seaviews one has in Durban, one of the reasons I love Durban, added a fun filter on it and you would never know if it was Instagram or not. The quality of the image might not be all that grand due to the average camera on my Blackberry. Nevertheless, I thought it was a pretty photo capturing Durban on a beautiful winter's day.

We Are The Potter Generation.♥

It has been one year since the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in cinemas and I felt it would be the appropriate time to do my first Harry Potter post. It's one of those stories where you can pick up any one of the books and begin to read from any place, over and over again without getting bored. It's a story for all ages. I found a few cute Harry Potter-related photos on weheartit.com and I always save those funny Harry Potter pictures when people make it their BBM display pictures. I dug up two of my photos from my London trip last year where we visited one of the Harry Potter film sites. Hope you enjoy them.

Still waiting on that.

"Weasley is our King."

 The funny pictures..

Look familiar? Think Philosopher's Stone when Mcgonagall welcomes the first years? Got it?

Are you a BBM Status Slut?

I didn't want to really have a post where I rant or express my dislike of something but I found this funny video on YouTube which pretty much sums it up plus it makes you smile. What am I rambling on about you ask? People who update their BBM statuses incessantly and unnecessarily. 10 updates in the space of 3 hours is a bit much don't you think? The worst is when there is a soccer match (or any sports match for that matter but soccer seems to be the worst) and people feel the need to express their feelings/update their contacts with the proceedings of the match. NO ONE CARES! Did you notice my use of capital letters there to express my outrage/shouting voice? Anyway I hope you enjoy this video, it's by a South African guy - I would say check out his videos but he does a pretty good job of broadcasting his videos himself at the end of his videos.
Oh wait he doesn't do the advertising thing in this video, there's another reason why I like it. Check him out Caspar Lee, support your fellow South African. Or don't, whatever.
How I feel before every sporting event or any major event in Durban.

House and Garden Show..

So this afternoon we visited the East Coast Radio House and Garden Show. Basically all the decor and garden related businesses have stands displaying their merchandise (if that's the correect term?). Anyway, most of it was pretty bleh and boring; the furniture most of it was the same, all had some sort of sparkle or shine to it. There were some exciting stalls though with pretty innovative utensils for the house. There were also food stalls which were more up my ally, from squirrel nuts to Aribba Chocolate - I tasted most of it. Two more things which were also really cool. One was an embroidery machine which was essentially like a robot because it created these works of embroidery on fabric without any human help (obviously someone had to programme it and what not but still)!
The machine at work.. Feel free to start and stop the video when you want, excuse the quality (taken with my phone).

The second thing was a dishwasher with a glass door so you could actually see how a dishwasher works/cleans the dishes! I found it pretty cool.
So the quality of the photo isn't the best but this is basically how the magic happens.
This is the Chip Twister which I had. Yum!

Erm So How Does This Work?

Please note that the name of this blog has since changed and the reasons and the new name is explained in this post

Okay so holiday boredom has got the better of me so I decided to start this blog to chronicle the daily occurrences of my life. Okay not really, posting things I find interesting from tv show quotes - prepare yourself for Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother amongst other comedy show quotes - to cute and funny photos (not necessarily fitting into the same category), interesting tweets.
Maybe I should explain the title? Pretty self explanatory, I have minor addictions to TV, twitter and tea, I also like the weheartit.com website but that didnt really fit in with whole t alliteration thing.

Cast photos for those of you haven't heard of How I Met Your Mother

..And The Big Bang Theory
